Nigeria as a country has many significant historical events that either has a positive or negative impact on the political or Socio-Economic activities of the country; one of the unforgettable historical events is the June 12, 1993, election. This is the freest, fair, and credible election Nigeria ever had since her independence in 1960,
According to the political school of thought, June 12 is the real democracy when Nigerians came out in mass to vote for a democratic government and free from the military regime’s shackles. The winner of the election was Chief M.K.O Abiola, but unfortunately, the election was annulled when the result already indicated a massive victory for chief Abiola. I consider the June 12 election as the Origin of Electoral malpractice in Nigeria, which also Leads to Bad leadership, mismanagement, Corruption, Insecurity, Lack of Good Infrastructure, flawed Education System.
If I had the opportunity to change a historical event in Nigeria, that would be June 12, 1993, election by given the mandate to the election winner. This would have been a revolutionary change in the history of Nigeria, and Nigeria would have to reclaim her glory as a giant of Africa.
